You Better Belize It!

I’m going to Belize! This summer, I will travel with the Wesley Foundation on a mission trip to Belize – my first international mission experience. I am super pumped about the trip and all that God is going to do. But rather than write a lot about Belize, for now I am just going to post my fundraising letter and the mission flier to let you know a little about it. Later, I will probably write some more, and I will definitely tell some stories here after I return, but if you are interested, just read this for now.

Howdy friends!

I am currently working through my final year of college with plans to graduate this December. I have greatly enjoyed my time here at Texas A&M and I feel very blessed by the life I have been given. God has given me many great opportunities here in college. Attending Texas A&M in itself is great (WHOOP!), but while my time in the classroom has been educational, I have grown even more through what we often refer to as “the other education” – learning about life through my involvement with organizations and my interactions with people.

Perhaps the biggest blessing for me throughout my time here has been the Wesley Foundation, which has proven true to its motto, serving as my “home away from home.” I have probably spent more time at Wesley than in class, studying, or even sleeping! I have had the chance to go on some incredible trips with Wesley, have participated in some exciting and enlightening bible studies, and have made some amazing friends there. This summer, God has blessed me with the opportunity to serve him on a mission trip to Belize with the Wesley Foundation. I am excited to be able to take my faith, which has grown tremendously through my involvement with Wesley, and share it with the world.

The purpose of our trip is to spread the good news of Christ Jesus through action and to serve the local church in Libertad and Corazol, the two cities we will be working in. We will be working on a construction project and will be interacting with the people of Belize through the church, schools, and community. The Wesley Foundation has been serving in Belize nearly every summer for almost 20 years now and has a great relationship with the people there. Please take a look at the included flier to read more about our purpose and trip details.

Part of the joy in missions is not only watching God transform the lives of both the servants and the served, but seeing him provide in every way for the trip through his people. It is also a huge leap of faith for me, trusting the Lord to provide for what he has called me to do, without really knowing where that will come from. I would ask first and foremost for your prayers for our trip. Please pray that we would truly be witnesses of Jesus and his love for all people, as described in the well-known verse, John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Please pray also that we would form incredible friendships with the people of Belize that will strengthen God’s kingdom and make us all more faithful followers of Jesus Christ.

I also ask that you earnestly pray about contributing financially to the Wesley Foundation. To go on this trip, I am trusting God to raise $1200 by May 1st, to cover travel and living expenses in Belize. If you feel led to give to help send me to Belize this summer, please make your check out to the Texas A&M Wesley Foundation and put “Eric Brown, Belize” in the memo line, then send it to me at the address above. Also note that all checks made out to the Wesley Foundation are tax deductible.

Please know that any support you provide, whether financial or in prayer, will be a great blessing to me and to the many we are able to serve. If you have any questions about my trip, please give me a call at (281)-381-6700 or email me at ericbrown07@gmail.com.
