Good times in San Antone

I probably made it sound like I had a lousy time at the Alamo Bowl. Even though I left once again feeling entirely frustrated at the Aggies’ complete and utter bowl futility, I had an excellent time. Since my dad is a Penn State alum, we decided this father-son rivalry match close to home was a must-see game. So the old man and I drove up to San Antonio Saturday morning and joined the masses of maroon sprinkled with navy blue on the Riverwalk. We also met up with a few friends of mine (all Aggies, whoop!) and had a good time in the city and at the game. Other than the frustration of the loss (which is losing its sting as I am getting more used to it with our consistent ‘bad-ness’), it was a great weekend. We got practically no sleep, watched a bunch of football and bowl “pageantry” (the PA announcer’s favorite word ever), saw Joe Paterno in his historic 500th game with one team (a Division I milestone that will never be repeated), heard a mariachi band play the Aggie War Hymn, and had a lot of fun with friends. It was definitely a very memorable trip!

  1. The J-Train has 45 TDs in 35 games. But on 3rd and short, put in Goodson.
